Lucchini specialises in the machining of wheels and axles for rolling stock and installation and regeneration of wheel sets. The company's offer includes the sale of components for railway industry, both to passenger transport and freight transport in Poland, Germany and Central and Eastern Europe.

Production capacity of Lucchini Poland is over 15,000 wheel sets annually. The plant is equipped with the most technologically advanced machinery, serviced by overhead cranes supplied by Fabryka Urządzeń Dźwigowych S.A. from Mińsk Mazowiecki.

We discussed the cooperation with FUD and the use of overhead cranes with Mr. Krystian Bochenek, Technical Managerat Lucchini Poland.

Krystian Bochenek - All overhead cranes delivered and installed by FUD are either custom-made for us or specifically adjusted for our needs to take into account the specificity of the production in our plant.

When it comes to our custom-made crane equipment, special emphasis in put on safety. An example may be double-girder 3.2t overhead crane equipped with anti-collision mechanism to protect it against hitting the columns of CNC machines. Additionally, this particular crane was designed to work in a very narrow space between the roof bracing and CNC machines. We value solutions dedicated specifically to our production. Another example may be a made to order 1.6t/3.2t hoist with electromagnet installed on an independent craneway used for removing chips from mechanical machining from the level of - 4500mm to the level of + 2000mm amounting to 20,000kg/day; the work is continuous.

Other cranes are customised to guarantee high precision of movement: fitting and preparation for assembly of our products - which is done using the overhead cranes - is carried out with a tolerance up to 0,03mm on ground surfaces, hence the craneway mechanisms, lifting, inverters, and even pilots and control devices need to carefully selected having these special conditions in mind.

Can you please describe your cooperation with FUD concerning the design and production of overhead cranes?

Krystian Bochenek - Production and Maintenance Departments are in constant touch with FUD Service and Design Departments; as a result from the very beginning all the solutions for LPL are developed according to LPL needs and type of work. At the same time, continuous cooperation and feedback regarding the machines we use allow the company to perfect their solutions the best way they can.

What is your opinion about FUD maintenance service?

Krystian Bochenek - Response time and the quality of service are FUD's undeniable assets; if on top of that you add cooperation regarding the development of new equipment, then FUD is undoubtedly a most reliable partner.
